Eve: How the Female Body Drove 200 Million Years of Human Evolution | Cat Bohannon

The NYT book review of this really grabbed my attention and while I don't read a lot of nonfiction, this one really seemed worthwhile. And it's fascinating. All that said, I am cherrypicking what I'm reading because it's a lot of information that is more than I really need or want.

But I'm not skimming because the writing isn't good. It's great! For a science-y text the tone is engaging and conversational. Bohannon does a great job tying the evolutionary details to modern day that makes the reader have more than a few "wow" moments. I'm just starting Chapter 4 and learning so much about the human body, but more specifically why my body is the way it is and how it came to be that way. It makes the fact that precious little medical research still, to this day, includes women in the testing all that more infuriating. So even if you just read the introduction and the first chapter, you'll learn something important. Future talking points with your doctor, perhaps. Check it out!
