I had just read, and written about, The Astral Library by Quinn but this one takes me back to her real sweet spot of WWII fiction about extraordinary women doing extraordinary things.

Lyudmila Pavlichenko was a Russian sniper whose tally of Nazi "kills" was at least 309. It's a true story that's shared at the end of the book. She was part of a goodwill tour of Russians to the US and became friends with Eleanor Roosevelt in the process and was credited with stopping an assassination of FDR to boot.

I'm not going to recount the whole story here because if that isn't enough to catch your interest this just isn't your genre.
