Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts | Katie Racculia

I honestly can't recall how this book ended up on my list to read, but I'm certainly glad it did. The premise is kind of silly (spoiler: the whole book is pretty silly), and the writing is light and funny. Tuesday Mooney is a loner, Goth grownup. Her job is researching potential donors for the hospital so she's a wizard at finding out all the details and dirt about people through internet searches.

Things get interesting when the local billionaire Vincent Pryce dies and leaves the community with a treasure hunt game inspired by Boston's own Edgar Allen Poe. Needless to say, weird people find each other and chaos ensues as folks from all walks of life seek out the treasure. Tuesday Mooney sits at the center of all this, along with her adorable teenaged neighbor Dorry, best friend Dex who would rather be onstage singing and dancing that working at a bank, and handsome local heir Nathaniel Arches who has a whole crazy backstory (and family) that keeps things interesting.

To be honest, the book goes on a little bit longer than I think it needs to and the ending is fairly complicated, character-wise and plot-wise, but it's a super fun read and it was just the thing for a post-holiday story. I haven't read anything else by Kate Racculia, but I'm going to check out Bellweather Rhapsody.

PS: In the UK, the book is titled Tuesday Mooney Wore Black.
