Finlay Donovan Is Killing It | Elle Cosimano

This is a thriller that just doesn't stop, with a heroine who makes bad choices for all the right reasons. What a fun read! Finlay Donovan is an novelist who writes books that nobody reads, whose ex-husband is a grade-A jerk and serial philanderer and whose nanny is one you could only (sort of..?) dream of.

Finlay is drowning in debt, just trying to keep the wheels on her life with two small children and an ex-husband who, let's just say, isn't helping matters. So when she's talking with her agent about her next book, a thriller about a murder, and the woman at the adjacent table thinks she's talking about real life and that she, Finlay, is an actual contract killer, you can see where this is going. Or careening, since nothing happens slowly for Finlay Donovan. You'll tear through this book because it's easy to read and you just want to know what on earth she'll do next. Consider it a palate-cleanser from the heavier news of the day and more literary fiction. The writing is strong, witty and taut, the steamy bits are delightful, Finlay's parenting challenges are relatable and the ending perfect. This is the first book of seven by Cosimano.
